Dyke Night Productions: Lesbian Event’s Charitable Giving, Community Building
BOSTON, Mass. – Dyke Night Productions has made a lasting impression on the women’s community in Boston through memorable dance parties and charitable contributions. The organization continues to grow and attracts women from all over New England to experience Boston’s lesbian nightlife.
Dyke Night was started in 1998 by Kristen Porter as a party at a local bar near her home to assist the underserved.
“I was sitting in my living room with a group of lesbian activists trying to figure out a way we could raise money to purchase supplies to support the volunteer street outreach we did to homeless queer people,” Porter explained.

BEST LESBIAN SCENE – 2012 Milky Way Lounge at Bella Luna Restaurant
This perennial favorite remains at the top of the class for revelry. There’re your usual suspects: a pool table, trivia, karaoke. But then there are the curve balls: live comedy, a giant wall-mounted Connect Four set, patio bashes with mariachi music or a steel drum band. With queer dance-parties and Dyke Night events, this place is a local institution. And with cocktails like the peachy Ron Swanson and a catalog of creative pizzas (sauce and dough made daily), the Milky Way shines any day of the week.

Best Lesbian Night Dyke Night Events
It was touch and go there for a while after news leaked that the most lauded lesbiandance party in the Hub lost its home (previous base Toast Lounge in Somerville went resto-lounge last year). But DYKE NIGHT is back and, at the risk of sounding cheesy, it really is better than ever. This fall, founder Kristen Porter (doyenne of dyke nightlife) started Second Saturdays at Machine. Come spring, Fourth Fridays will launch at the new Milky Way in JP. If getting saucy on the dance floor isn’t enough to get you to the much-hyped gatherings, chew on this: a quarter of all proceeds raised at these parties go to GLBT causes.
Second Saturdays :: December 13, 2008
This week’s Second Saturdays, dyke nightlife impresario Kristen Porter’s latest nightlife event, drew some 700 people to Machine this past Saturday night. No doubt if you give gay women in this city some place to go they’ll come out. EDGE was there and has photos! click here to see the photos
